扭曲向列相液晶盒指向矢剖面的光导波方法确定

摘要: 适当选取棱镜、折射率匹配液及扭曲向列相液晶盒的参数,三者可以形成全漏导模结构。线偏振光(p光或s光)由棱镜耦合进入到液晶层,再由棱镜耦合射出,形成反射光和透射光。由于液晶本身具有光学各向异性,并且液晶指向矢随外加电压变化而改变,反射和透射将会存在偏振保持和偏振转换两种不同的信号。通过全漏波导技术,记录不同角度所对应的扭曲向列相液晶全漏导模的反射光强度实验数据,并与多层光学理论给出的理论曲线进行比较,由此可以确定扭曲向列相液晶盒指向矢剖面。

Determination of the director profile in a twisted nematic cell from optical guided wave method
Abstract: Prism, matching fluid of refractivity and twisted nematic liquid crystal cell can be assembled into the geometry of full leaky waveguide mode by selecting some appropriate parameters of them. A linear polarized light (p light or s light), which comes into and goes away from the liquid crystal layer by coupling prism, may form reflective light and transmission light. Because of the optical anisotropic of liquid crystal and the transmission of director of liquid crystal as the variation of applied voltage, two different signals, polarization-conserving signals and polarization-conversion signals, will be exist in both reflective light and transmission light. Using the full leaky waveguide technique, some experimental data of reflected light through the full leaky guided mode of twisted nematic liquid crystal corresponding to different angles were written down. And, by comparing these experimental data with the theoretical results obtained from multi-layer optics theory, the director profile of twisted nematic liquid crystal cell is determined.
